While thankfully incidents are rare, any international visitor who does experience a crime or any other distressing incident in Ireland can avail of a free and confidential support service called Tourist SOS.  They provide information and practical support in several European languages to help you: 

• replace missing passports/documents.
• cancel bank/credit cards.
• reschedule flights.
• report an incident to the police.
• other emergency support.
